Environmental, Social, and GovernancE

The Nyngan Project will be the world’s first scandium-only mine. Our environmental, community, and governance work is grounded in the same rigor as our feasibility study: independently reviewed, government-approved, and built for a project designed to run for decades.

Environmental

  • The Environmental Impact Statement for Nyngan, submitted to the NSW Department of Planning, found that residual environmental impacts represent negligible risk, and concluded the proposed development design achieves sustainable environmental outcomes.
  • Mining uses conventional truck-and-shovel methods with very low strip ratios, and annual ore inputs are met through a part-year contract mining schedule confined to the dry summer season — limiting the operational footprint by design.
  • Residue storage is being engineered to formal NSW safety standards: an approval from the NSW Dams Safety Committee for the design and construction of the Residue Storage Facility is among the final approvals in progress.
  • Water use is governed by a dedicated Water Supply Works and Use Approval and Water Access License specific to the project.

Social

  • All formal approvals for the project’s mining lease and development consent have already been secured — “all required governmental approvals to proceed have been received” — meaning community and regulatory review is complete, not pending.
  • Community consultation has been an ongoing, on-record process: consultation reports have been filed for exploration licenses covering the project area.
  • Nyngan’s location benefits from established local infrastructure — water, rail, power, roads, and an existing workforce — supporting local employment and reducing the need for new infrastructure disruption.

Governance

  • The project’s resource, mine plan, and economics were independently verified: the feasibility study was independently prepared and led by Lycopodium Limited, an established third-party engineering firm.
  • Key protective flowsheet technology has been formally protected under US Patent Applications, reflecting disciplined IP and technical governance.
  • Remaining regulatory steps — including a high-voltage connection agreement with Essential Energy — are being tracked and disclosed as part of ongoing project updates, consistent with the company’s public disclosure practice as a TSX-V listed company.
