EMC Metals Appoints William Sheriff as Chairman of the Board

Vancouver, BC - March 18, 2009 - EMC Metals Corp. (TSX:EMC) ("the Company") is pleased to announce that William M. Sheriff has agreed to serve as Chairman of the Company's Board of Directors. In addition to Mr. Sheriff, the present Board consists of Mr. Paul Matysek, Mr. Peter Bosse, Mr. Steve Vanry, Dr. Art Ettlinger, Mr. William Harris and Mr. James G. G. Watt. 

As previously announced, Mr. Peter Bosse will serve as the Company's President and Mr. Clifford Nelson will serve as Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Christine Thomson will continue as the Company's Corporate Secretary.
